UTA Says, "Thanks" To Our Soldiers - Thursday, April 02, 2009
At its board meeting on April 1, 2009, the UTA Board voted to give free UTA memberships to taxidermist on active military duty or serving on active duty The Board felt the sacrifice our soldiers and their families make for our freedom should never go unrecognized. This small token in no way compensates for their service but rather demonstrates, in a small way, our respect and appreciation for what they are doing for all of us. All you have to do is go to the UTA web site, print the application and fill it in. Put your unit and station and ETS at the top and you are set. Again thank you for all that you do so that we can continue enjoy the freedoms we have.

UTA Announces New State Benefit - Friday, February 20, 2009
In 2008, the UTA announced it would provide $100 to any state association for a supplier hosted hospitality room. The main stipulation would be the hospitality room would be in the supply room during open supply room hours. This incentive was to help support the association with purchasing snacks and drinks, as well supporting the suppliers that attend the convention by bringing customers into the supply room.
NEW in 2009, the UTA is providing states an alternative benefit. A state association can request a UTA sponsored seminar for their state association. The seminar chairman will need to contact their UTA regional representative are request the seminar. The UTA representatives will do their best to coordinate efforts with a UTA member to perform the seminar for the state. The UTA may reimburse the seminar speaker up to a set amount dictated by the board. This basically this works out to be a "worry free" seminar to the participating state association. The UTA takes care of the details.
State Associations have their choice of which benefit they would like for their membership. The UTA fully supports all state associations and encourages all state association officials to work closely with the UTA to improve our industry

USSA and United Taxidermist Association Develop Partnership Will Educate Youth about Outdoor Sports and Art of Taxidermy
(Columbus) – The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA) and the United Taxidermist Association (UTA) are proud to announce a new partnership designed to help educate everyone from youth to veteran sportsmen about the role conservation plays in protecting our outdoor heritage.
“This partnership is designed to build cooperation among both groups members and clients by enhancing opportunities for people to protect and enhance outdoor sports through education and first hand experience,” said Mike “Mac” McLane, Board member and UTA co-founder. “Working together with the USSA will surely boost both organizations’ public profiles also.”
New sportsmen recruitment is a priority for both the USSA and UTA as issues affecting our outdoor heritage are on the rise while at the same time, sportsmen numbers are declining as a percentage of the population.
“Both the USSA and the UTA share a common interest in strengthening opportunities for people to fish, hunt, trap, and shoot,” said Doug Jeanneret, USSA vice president of marketing. “This partnership represents a strong foundation for both to make that a reality by reaching out to the nation’s youth through programs like Trailblazer Adventure”.
The UTA and some of its members have been involved in the Trailblazer Adventure Program, developed by the USSA to introduce youth and their families to outdoor pursuits.
The UTA was founded in September 2007 by a group of like minded individuals, seeking to promote unity and professionalism within the taxidermy industry. The UTA focuses on advancing the art of taxidermy with special emphasis on education and youth. For more information about the United Taxidermist Association and its work, call (877) 534-4882 or visit its website, www.unitedtaxidermist.com.
The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance is a national association of sportsmen and sportsmen’s organizations that protects the rights of hunters, anglers and trappers in the courts, legislatures, at the ballot, in Congress and through public education programs. For more information about the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance and its work, call (614) 888-4868 or visit its website, www.ussportsmen.org.

THE UTA AND CATCH A DREAM FOUNDATION FORM A PARTNERSHIP The UTA Board of Directors is very pleased to announce an Official Partnership with the Catch A Dream Foundation. www.catchadream.org. Catch A Dream is a Foundation, similar to Hunt of a LIfetime, that grants wishes to terminally ill children who want to go hunting and fishing and has become the featured charity on the Outdoor Channel--showcased on the Drury brother's show, "Dream Season".
The UTA is helping the CADF find qualified taxidermists willing to donate their time and expertise to help make terminally ill children's dreams come true.
While the CADF arranges trips for a wide variety of animals, fish and birds the specimens most likely to get mounted are gameheads (whitetails, mule deer, antelope) and fish (both fresh and saltwater--skin mounts and repros).
Supplies and materials will be provided (unless you would like to furnish your own). Shipping to and from your studio will be paid for by the CADF (although you may donate that as well).
While we can't guarantee that every taxidermist that applies will be selected to do some work the UTA Taxidermy Coordinator will do his best to spread the work around the country. Please keep in mind that applying does not obligate you to anything. CADF hunts are very "time specific" because we are dealing with terminal illness. If you cannot get the job done in the time frame provided please feel free to decline it and it will be assigned to someone else.
You DO NOT have to be a UTA member to participate---although we do encourage it.
If you are interested in helping please send an email to me at tri0900@velocity.net with the following information:
Name Address Phone Your taxidermy strengths
The UTA Taxidermy Coordinator is Rick Krane. When a child is selected for a trip in your area by the CADF, Rick will contact you to begin the necessary arrangements. Don't miss the chance to do something truly GREAT with the talents the Creator has given you.
